In this episode of No Suits Allowed, Connor speaks with Tim Nihart. Tim takes us on a journey from his childhood as a devoted baseball player to a professional career in the Minnesota Twins organization, then into 20 years as a college coach and professor, earning a master’s in communication and ultimately a PhD along the way.
Today he runs his own leadership and team-development LLC, coaching organizations worldwide on how to hire, train and inspire their people. Connor and Tim dive into pivotal life moments, a helicopter ride after Tim’s 2007 stroke, the loss of his father, and Connor’s own health scare, and how each taught them to re-evaluate priorities, set boundaries and speak life through every interaction.
They explore the power of positivity and the “I SEE” mindset, Improve, Serve, Execute and Energize, as well as the impact of understanding human behavior through personality insights.
Tim explains how strengths pushed to extremes can become pitfalls, and how small, consistent shifts in communication style and team alignment overcome the costly “honeymoon stage” of new hires.
They agree that speaking life and building a solid foundation of mission, values and core team principles lead to lasting success. Finally, they highlight First Fruits Events Ministry, the nonprofit they helped launch to foster community, spiritual growth and practical coaching workshops.
